Do they have some kind of significance, or do they simply look cool together?
Yes, red and black look cool together. They are also the colors of Ellegua, an Orisha in the Santeria religion. Santeria has a lot of xian imagery, and many of the followers have strong xian tendencies, but they are deluded, and really just the 'sheeple' of the sect. When you dig deeper (and it was hard for me as a 'weta' (white girl)) to do so, a few in the local community would talk to me, and steer me towards the good research.
Santeria, Candomble, Palo Mayombe and VouDou are African religions brought by slaves to their respective captor's countries. The only way they could survive was if the slaves gave their gods xian makeovers. It has been corrupted, but the core gods are still there and in my opinion Satanic.
Ellegua reached out to me when I began getting interested in these practices. Where I live there is a large Hispanic and South American population, so it is pretty vital around here. When I say 'reached out' I mean it - I was put into far too many situations where it was obvious he was trying to get in touch with me, and we have had an interesting friendship for over a decade now.
His colours are black and red, and like all his fellow Orisha (Santeria) or Loa (VouDou) his 'elekes' (beads that are in the colors of said god), and I wear them when honoring him. In Brazil he is called Oxum in Candomble, and they regularly use a candle in the shape of Satan for him. I am not saying he is the African (Yoruba, in this case) version of him, because it really doesn't look that way to me, if you hear or read enough of the stories and do the research. He is more about teaching through pranks, duality, getting you to make the best decisions for yourself kind of guy, and he is a warrior.
If you can stomach the bad shit and weed out the crap, there is value in studying the Afro-diaspora religions and their magic. It works, and is practical. These people went through the same crap of having an alien religion forced on them, and did their best to salvage what they could. Xianity tried to wipe out all competition, but they didn't get rid of everything. We thankfully have some decent archeologists and scientists who don't crumble under jew/xian demands for their myth to be presented as fact. Try to find them and study their works. It isn't easy, but it's really worth it.
Hail Satan,
