To the moderator: I've been trying to post this over and over again. Why won't you let me? Please explain, if ever

However, manasic-japa (silent mental chanting) gives a reward tea million times more than loud chanting. In the digdarsini tika to Hari-bhakti-vildsa, Sri Sanatana Gosvami says:

HOWEVER, reading further through the website (which I suggest you do, too, in order to have a just take on this subject).... "If silent chanting (manasic-japa) is so incredibly powerful and beneficial, why do contemporary gurus advise their disciples to chant softly (upamsu-japa) or loudly (yaikhari-japa)?" The answer to this question comes from the life and teachings of Haridasa Thakura, who is the Namacarya for all Gaudiya Vaisnavas. Of the 192 rounds of japa that Thakura Haridasa chanted everyday, it is said he chanted 64 in the mind, 64 whispering, and 64 loudly. Five hundred years ago in Navadvipa, the local smarta brahmanas criticized Haridasa Thakura for chanting japa loudly. They said: "Haridasa, why must you chant so loudly? The actual injunction is to chant softly in your mind. Which scripture instructs you to chant loudly?" Srila Haridasa humbly replied: "The principle effect of chanting the name of God loudly is that it purifies the soul one thousand times more than any other form of worship. Nowhere in the scriptures is loud chanting of the holy name condemned; on the contrary, there are excellent benefits that have been described in many places. In one scripture it says: 'Loud chanting of Lord Krsna's name is a thousand times better than silent chanting.'" ''Why is the result of loud chanting magnified a thousand times over any other process?" demanded a dubious brahmana. Haridasa replied: "O brahmana, please try to understand that when any living entity, be it man, bird or beast, hears the holy name chanted by a pure devotee, he goes directly to Vaikuntha after leaving this body. Srimad Bhdgavatam 10.34.17 says, 'O Acyuta, anyone who chants Your name purifies all who hear his chanting, as well as himself. One who chants the holy name to himself liberates himself only, but one who chants the Lord's name loudly liberates anyone who hears him. The sound of the Lord's name is beneficial for everyone.'" Haridasa Thakura continued, 'Therefore, all scriptures assert that loud chanting of the Lord's name is a thousand times more effective than any other religious process. So I take this means mental vibration is best for workings focused on the self while loud vibration is best for external workings?
