The Head God of the Yezidi People

Among the most revealing examples of a culture that has resisted assimilation from the Abrahamic sects, is the religion of Yezidism.

The Yezidis, a tribe that was called “The Whites of the Middle East”, is a religious sect that has “deviated” from the traditional Islamic narrative of the Region but predates them also.

In accordance to their doctrines, they mention that “Shaitan” is actually the bringer of Truth, Illumination and the King of the Heavenly universe. They see no evil in His figure, only goodness, and they consider Him the highest hierarchy that is on par with “God”.

The Name Shaitan or Satan, is so sacred to the Yezidis, that they believe that the moment one utters that Name, one is in direct communication with God. Therefore, they mostly call Satan by the title Melek Taus, meaning “Highest Messenger”.

They are correct about that statement. These beliefs have made them become a target for genocide by Islamic terrorists, who seek to exterminate their beliefs under the pretext that they are “Satanic”, a true statement in fact, but only an excuse to cause unnecessary violence.

Hello, I am a Yezidi and I enjoy studying my religion and history. I would like to comment on this depiction.

Many people believe that Tawûsî Melek was elevated to the head of the angels only after passing a test. But this idea is foreign and contradicts our actual religious beliefs.

Our Qewls never mention that Tawûsî Melek became the leader of the angels because he passed any kind of trial. Rather, he is appointed by God as their chief from the moment the universe is created. As it says in Qewlê Padişah:

“My King created the universe from the pearl and the jewels and entrusted it to the seven eternal mysteries.
On that day He made Tawûsî Melek their leader.”

And in Qewlê Mersûma Cebêra we read:

“My King is the Creator.
He created Tawûsî Melek from His Light
and made him the leader of the seven angels.”

The story about an alleged test does not appear in any of the narrative religious genres of Êzîdîtî—neither in Serhatî, Çîrok, Destan, nor in Çîvanok. These texts are usually much more detailed than the Qewls, and they would certainly mention such a test if it were part of our tradition.

Likewise, this story is not accepted by any religious authority or traditional Yezidi religious scholar.

This is yet another example of how easily misunderstandings about the Yezidis can spread, and how they are used to demonize us.

(P.S.: The same has been done to Christians and Islamic sects as well.)

Welcome. How have you found us and how long ago? Have you begun power meditation yet?

I have to ask what prompted you to refute the idea of Melek Taus being an angel that was promoted. Did you volunteer that because it's been on your mind?
I read and re-read the original post but don't see it being stated anywhere.

I'm also a bit thrown off why the OP was posted here instead of the main forum, and why it reads like it's AI generated or copy pasted...

Sorry, I should correct my statement about not understanding why this was posted "here."
I thought this was in the Ask Satya forum.

Did you read the post before commenting? It does not mention anything about a test. You copied and pasted the exact same unrelated comments to another old post:

I guess you searched for "Yezidis" and decided to copy paste that in every old post you found.

I know your replies in 99% likelihood are a hit and run and you have left already after you posted them, but in case you are reading this, I'm not sure what you are trying to do here.

I don't believe anyone here is interested in the angel thing you posted, by the way. We know the modern Yezidis are different from the original Yezidis and you believe in Christian and Muslim lies mixed with a little bit of truth, but the original Yezidis were Pagans/Esotericists. Melek Taus was originally a Pagan God, but they decided to disguise him as an angel because they faced heavy Muslim persecution. Later on as the centuries passed, they came to believe that angel idea and there you are now repeating this and posting it here.
