Why would the elite use a lot of Saturnian symbolism (black cubes everywhere, Blackrock, etc) if Saturn is the planet of poverty and suffering?

Black as a color itself is often used or worn by wealthy individuals.

Does it have to do with Saturn through the root chakra actually been key to building wealth in some way?

Saturn is not a poor planet. Most people's knowledge of Saturn is very superficial. It is also the planet of solid foundations. In other words, it is a god of prosperity. If Yehuborim use its symbols, they do so to draw upward energy down into the material world and to stabilize and secure their own success. Seeds do not grow in the air; they grow in the earth. In this regard, Saturn is also a supportive branch for growth; he stabilizes.
The general power of most pagan gods is fertility. Fertility in every sense because it was equivalent to raw wealth. Saturn is the Sower; he is Nature itself.

How do we apply this to ourselves in our personal lives then?

I will put something here that will help you understand the connection between Saturn and building wealth. In general, someone's ability to obtain wealth is related to a higher spiritual ability. And the path to becoming a god involves mastering Saturn.

Saturn deals with the business one owns, the government and your boss/lord, credit, monetary reputation, debt, etc. The harder and more responsible side of money. Saturn also deals with anything that is very old. As Saturn co-rules the 11th House, it also deals with patrons.

Nauthiz can train one's mind to deal with hard work and is safer to work with for Saturnian purposes, especially for newcomers.

I haven't the faintest idea. The Black Cube acts as an energy antenna, accelerating magical manifestation. It was also used to mitigate the effects of Zuhal. To me, Saturn is a complete mechanical system of cause and effect. Therefore, it must contain the causes of prosperity and power, as well as the causes of poverty, misery, and suffering.

Saturnian principles such as perseverance, endurance, foundations, discipline, and structure. All of these, and more, are key to success in the material and also in the spiritual realm. The base is where the growth propels upward. No proper foundation, no proper structure, no proper growth.
