Saturn Retrograde

AvatarMint1 min to read

I can't find an explanation on the forums of what Saturn Rx is and what considerations should be made, what should be avoided, etc.
There's plenty of threads that mention it but none I could find that provide the basics of what it is.

All I've found is to make sure you keep your energy up to avoid misfortune. But is that all there is?

Would someone please explain? Or will HoO have an informative popup about it like there has been for Mercury Rx?

Hi, unlike mercury retrograde and caution to major decisions and external inkuence, .. this one is more internal. its about taking inventory of your life; Looking at things like paths, boundaries, habits, and what commitments deserve your energy. A time of pause and self reflection.

I know that doesnt fully answer what you are asking, and you might of already known this, but its a good starting point ✨️❤️ hope you find a more inflamed depth answer, please share if you do, I would be interested too

This is the targeted message.

Whatever info I could give can just be googled, but I'm replying because I'm interested as well.

Hopefully Clergy or a member well versed in astrology can explain some things beyond the surface level online explanations.

When Saturn is retrograde, its influence in the lower octaves can intensify.

When Saturn is approaching a personal planet or the ruler of our natal chart (a more complicated period), we need to intensify our cleansing work and keep our energy levels high.

Negative residues present in the soul may surface and create problems. Zeus said that one should strengthen the planet that is about to aspect Saturn at least one month in advance to soften its impact.

Sabbaths, Kabbalistic squares, and exercises focused on the pair of chakras involved are recommended.

Saturn is a great teacher. And retrograde Saturn shows
precisely that the main work must happen within. These internal limitations are not a dead end, but a pointer to the weak spots where we lack awareness, maturity, and order.

A Saturn retrograde is not always negative. Some people actually start to expand and to achieve more in their lives during this period.

So it's not that you have to protect yourself from Saturn energies, you just need to continue taking care of your self spiritually, if you are grown up maybe you already know areas in your life that needs fixing, then fix them, simply that.

If you make mistakes, learn from them. Don't be afraid or worry much, just do your best.

Saturn retrograde is a time of assessment of the progress you've made in the specific areas that Saturn is retrograding over. It tests whether you've built sufficiently strong foundations in those areas and whether you've corrected mistakes that were present and were brought to your attention. It does so by putting similar obstacles back into your path and letting you handle them. If you haven't learned your lesson or you've been complacent, of course you're going to be bitten by it. More things and weaknesses that you haven't considered will be exposed so that you can become aware of them.

It is considered unfortunately because most souls are at an andrapodic level:

  • they refuse to see mistakes for the most part

  • they refuse to correct those mistakes for the most part

  • they will deny those mistakes when someone else in their life will present them to them, sometimes even to the point of attacking the messenger verbally, physically, socially, or even institutionally and legally

  • they will pretend they are victims that do no wrong, comparing themselves also to the myriad of mistaken people in the same situation (or a similar one)

These are all hallmarks of immaturity that Saturn is trying to make people grow out of, in order for people to become responsible and actually adult.

Saturn also teaches patience, timing, and consistency because true growth is only achieve through those qualities, rather than being randomly served on a silver platter.

The lessons of Saturn can happen both at an individual and at a "collective" level.

Individually, they happen because Saturn is still a personal planet after all and at that level it deals with matters of the muladhara chakra, which High Priestess Lydia Coventina has explained very well in one of her sermons. It can affect matters of other chakras by virtue of aspects to planets ruling said chakras (i.e. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter) and placement in personal houses in the chart.

By "collective", I mean circumstances that deal with organisations like institutions, the government, your employer, a corporate business, etc, which are ruled by Saturn with some exceptions being ruled by Jupiter (i.e. higher education institutions, legal/justice systems, religious/spiritual/philosophical organisation). In this instance, it can affect your dealings with specific institutions by aspects to all slow planets (i.e. Jupiter-Pluto) and placement in transpersonal houses.

Hard aspects represents harder lessons.

Saturn's action slows, contracts, consolidates. It wants you to slow down, review, evaluate.

Of course, it also warns you of harm/suffering coming from others, not just from your own behaviour. In that instance, the lesson is in how you deal with that type of situation because chances are you haven't dealt well with it before, or it's a new situation altogether.

Some question you might want to ask yourself once you've established the right circumstances are:

  • Am I going too fast? (i.e. did I jump to the next step in this process before doing my due diligence in this the previous step? Am I rushing things in situation/relationship/project/activity?)

  • Am I doing too much? (i.e. aspects to Sun or Mars that cause overwork, overextension, stress, etc which then lead to health issues, fatigue, etc)

  • Am I doing too little? (i.e. laziness and procrastination that come to bite you back)

  • Is this organisation trying to harm me? (i.e. someone bringing an unfair lawsuit to you, or your manager or someone/something abusing their power/authority over you)

It's important to remember sometimes circumstances are out of our control and it's not always our "fault". For many of these potential tests from Saturn we shouldn't think in terms of "fault" anyway but in terms of "what can I do to improve the situation?" and learn to fight our battles. Sometimes the lesson is inevitable/fated, and we need to come to terms with it and accept it. That's another reason why we need to take multiple factors in context, not just separate factors when reading predictive astrology (i.e. transits, solar returns...) and natal astrology. Really, for any part of astrology.

The details converge into the bigger picture. They can reinforce each other, offset each other, or even be independent of each other. Keep that in mind.
