I'm a little confused by the planets being in retrograde. I'm going to write what I think it means and entails but if it's wrong please correct me. If Mercury was retrograde that just means that you shouldnt work spells relating to anything that is ruled by Mercury but you can still perform spells relating to something that is ruled by another planet.
If you performed a spell while Mercury wasn't retrograde but the event takes place while Mercury is retrograde does that mean that it probably won't work?
I'm just using Mercury as an example.
