Hi. Could someone please elaborate and bring clarity to this... How to ignore thoughts and emotions without repressing them and the difference. I know it may sound silly but i guess I just don't quite get it. I know repressing things is bad. So does it just mean deal with the thought or emotion etc right away and then put it away for good?

Repressing is based on a fighting mindset. That is "oh this thought is bad, it must not be, i need to get rid of it". Ignoring it simply means accepting the thought but knowing at the same time it's unnecessary and not of high importance. It's pretty much the difference of becoming angry when a fly comes near you and trying to kill it vs. simply ignoring it and let it fly as it pleases without getting upset yourself and simply do whatever you were doing as if the fly wasn't there.

More simply the difference between repressing a thought and ignoring it is the effort involved. Repressing involves active effort. Ignoring it comes naturally when you fully accept the thought and you don't find it interesting. When you ignore it, the thought doesn't really get your attention, that's why you ignore it. You don't consider it an attention-worthy thing.

BTW there's a 5-part meditation program by Swami Satyananda Saraswati that guides you to total thoughtlessness by the ignoring principle I said. The first part involves observing the external environment, sounds, smells, sensations e.t.c. until you no longer find them interesting (that can take about a month). When you can have your phone ring without you reacting to them immediately then you can go to the second part which involves observing your thoughts. Again you do that for a month until you no longer find them interesting. The 3rd part is about creating and destroying a thought. The 4th part is about relaxing, getting into a light trance and observing the subtle thoughts that don't surface in the waking state. The 5th part is total thoughtlessness.

Simple, to repress is to be in denial. To ignore is to acknowledge it then simple make it so that it isn't so. Hard but mind over matter. This is why void meditation is both one of the most valuable and hardest skills to have.

The only reason people have these negative thoughts and emotions is because they cant control their mind. If you control your mind you can CHANGE your mind. This is why void meditation is so important. Read and study Satanic Void Meditation
