Religious Law

Did religious laws exist in the pre-Abrahamic, Pagan world? I was reading through the exposing christianity website on the section of the old testament http://see_the_truth.webs.com/Old%20Testament.html

It mentioned things like The Sumerian Code, The Hittite Code, The Neo Babylonian Code etc where the Bible stole and corrupted it's teachings from.

So I am wondering how common was commandment like, religious law in the ancient world, prior to Judeo-Christianity and the Bible? Does religious law exist in Pagan religions?

Also do the above codes such as the Sumerian code and Hammurabi code apply to us today as Spiritual Satanists? Is there actual spiritual knowledge in these doctrines or are they just laws at a purely materialistic level that was necessary for civilization at the time?

Thanks.

Some cultures had laws, while other cultures didn't really have the concept of murder and couldn't even conceive it in their minds to murder one of their people so they didn't have laws regarding it for example. See, people think it's laws that bring justice or something but they're not. Once a person is spiritually advanced he won't need any laws to tell him whether to do something or not, he will respect other people's rights without any external law. HP Maxine said that in Duat, the God's planet don't have crime at all because they're telepathic and nobody can hide themselves to commit any crimes at all.

@the_fire_starter Thanks for your reply. I didn't mean laws as in any law as such. What I mean is laws ordained by Gods or external Deities, similar to that of the Bible?

I know that there were secular laws in the ancient world too which were given independently of religion. I am just wondering did ancient Pagan religions have texts which commanded them to do certain things that were believed to be religiously or spiritually inspired? I was reading The Code Of Hammurabi and there seem to be in it many laws concerning how to handle slaves, which seemed profoundly materialist in nature to me. I don't know if this is a false interpretation by the enemy because it was decoded from a recently discovered archealogical record. And are these things relevant to us in any way whatsoever as modern Spiritual Satanists?

For example, is The Hittite Code of any use or meaning to us today?

No. Like I said in my previous post true respect or appreciation for other people or nature comes from spiritual advancement, not external laws. The Gods don't "ordain" laws but they teach us how to advance spiritually. It's very simple, I dunno how come you don't get it. :) Yes there was the code of Hammurabi and things like that but these came after the Gods left, not before.

Besides that, you'll notice as I said before that we don't fit the mainstream definition of religion, that's exactly the Gods don't ordain laws. I think the law thing is a misunderstood code word. Law as in law of the universe or something like that, not something you have to obey. Much like the Sanskrit Dharma. Such thing exists but no things like ordained laws.
