I've read from sources that we are not supposed to touch the rosary with our index finger when using it.

How true is this? what are your opinions regarding this and why?

It sounds like stupid superstition to me. For one because the rosary is merely a tool so you don't have to count your affirmations/mantras and focus your complete attention on them. The mantra/affirmation is the focus of the entire thing, not the rosary. So I fail to see how touching the rosary with the index finger or make you lose count or mess up the mantra/affirmation in any other way.

And don't you think that this would be mentioned in the JoS site in the page about the rosary if it was that important? That page mentions no such thing:

I'm aware that JOS site doesn't contain any statement about not using index finger for the rosary.

Though i may not be walking in your shoes. One thing i understand  is that each one of us individuals carry a baggage on our backs in life.
