Quick question about breathing exercises

I notice that many of the meditation breathing exercises specify to breathe in and out through your nose. I have a deviated septum and usually have allergies, which makes breathing through my nose somewhat difficult. I've been a mouth breather most of my life.

Does it make any difference if you breathe through your mouth as opposed to your nose?
