Hello there brothers and sisters
Umbanda is a Brazilian religion that combines traditional African religious practices, 'spiritism' and catholic elements. The catholic elements I believe are there due to jewish corruption since Umbanda practitioners were persecuted in old times for not being xians. Umbanda is pretty much related to African religions such as candomble, santeria, voodoo etc although not being the same.
In this religion there is a pantheon of entities who are contacted by invocation, i.e. they speak and act through the body of a person who serves as a medium to make contact. For many years now my uncle has been invoking these entities.
If you subdivide, among these entities there is a line of 'right path entities' and 'left path entities'.
Among the 'right path entities' there are the 'caboclos', indigenous entities who resemble native Americans. Most of them are associated with snakes, each one of them having a particular species of snake as his/her sacred animal. They will often smoke cigars during the invocation session and grant favors in exchange for certain offerings like candles in the sacred color of the entity. It is said among practitioners that each person has one of these entities as a guardian.
Among the 'left path entities' there are the exus, who are often depicted as 'devils' (horns red skin etc). Exus will often grant favors in exchange for offerings like alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, chicken sacrifice and food. Each one of these entities also has a sigil which is usually drawn on the ground where the invocation takes place and the pitch fork appears in many of these sigils. They will often smoke cigars and drink alcohol during the invocation session.
My question is,
does anyone know if these entities are related to Satan?
Are they, by chance, lesser demons?
I have done my own research on that but could only gather 'half conclusions'.
One particular thing that makes me ask this is a dream that I had some days ago.
In this dream I was telling my mother that Bes and Exu Mirim (young Exu) were the same entity. Also, two children appeared walking with me in the dream.
I was wondering if what I said in the dream was true. The only similarities I know between these entities is that they have to do with children. I read that Bes is a protector for children (and also women). Exu Mirim is also said to protect children and he is depicted as a child himself. Is it possible that they are the same entity or that they somehow work together?
Or perhaps this dream was meant to bring me a different message about children.
Ps.: I am not an Umbanda practitioner myself.
Every piece of information on this will be appreciated.
HAIL SATAN!!!
