prayer rituals

When performing basic rituals,if I make an error will it effect me in a bad way?I was told by another satanist that performing any kind of magic can have undesirable effects if not performed right.When he told me magic Im assuming more advanced rituals like desrtuction,and healing etc.I havent gotten that far yet.So now Im a little worried.I cant see any magic performed while doing a prayer or thanksgiving ritual to Father Satan.Im new and I would think Father would understand if I make an error while doing a basic ritual.
