I came across something most shocking, to me anyways. This was installed on my laptop without my consent or knowing about it and came from my installing wireless cricket internet device.
I was going through my programs on the C drive and came across this -carrier iq. What this carrier iq does, is track everything you do, including your passwords and has a built in key stroke logger. It also is preinstalled on cellphones and many other electronic items. I wonder if this is fed into the adl- jewish defense league as well as homeland security and other snooping agencies.
I removed carrier iq. You have to know how to do this. If you try and delete it, it wont delete. One method is starting your computer in safe mode, but a much simpler way is to get into the folder which is installed on c drive, then go to program files and it is listed if it is on your pc. I just went into the folder and deleted as much as i could because these programs need several different things to function like drivers and that sort of thing. Never do this with anything else because it might be something necessary for your computer. the folder had tons of data files which is spyware on my pc. As for cell phones, i don't know how to get it off of there.
Here are some articles-

what is says in some of it
to collect swaths of "performance data"...
What data the software collects depends on what entity installed it on your phone, because Carrier IQ is customized to meet the desires of the client that uses it. In corporate marketing materials, Carrier IQ says that includes relatively benign info like data speed and app usage. But Trevor Eckhart, the developer who first outed Carrier IQ, has demonstrated that the software can log virtually anything you do on your phone: calls, location, even keystrokes. That means it could in theory log all your passwords and credit card numbers when you punch them in.
which is definitely creepy
If we've learned anything about privacy from Facebook it's that this level of granular data collection freaks people out even when they know about it. And when you think about what it does when it's done with spying, tracking, loggingpick a termit's downright sickening. What's being collected and what do they know about me? What are they going to do with that information and who has access? Those are all still open questions.
and it's possibly illegal
Well, Carrier IQ has already been hit with a Senate investigation, and as Forbes reports, since we didn't know about the service it might actually violate the Wiretap Act millions of times over. Is it possible that you signed off on some terms and conditions agreement that had Carrier IQ buried deep? Sure. But it's still not unreasonable to expect a class action lawsuit and other legal action.

Rootkit discovery and media attentionOn November 12, 2011, researcher Trevor Eckhart stated in a post on androidsecuritytest.com[17] that Carrier IQ was logging information such as location without notifying users or allowing them to opt-out,[18] and that the information tracked included detailed keystroke logs,[19] potentially violating US federal law.[20] On November 16, 2011, Carrier IQ sent Eckhart a cease and desist letter claiming that he was in copyright infringement by posting Carrier IQ training documents on his website and also making "false allegations."[21][22] Eckhart sought and received the backing of user rights advocacy group Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).
