Greetings to everyone!
I am writing this brief post on a topic that has arisen periodically, namely, the loving life of Zevists and Zevistas, and specifically, the type of partner we should be with.
There are many dedicated Brothers and Sisters here who think, for one reason or another, that the only way to have a happy, sane, and loving relationship is to find a Zevist partner. The reasons that lead to this conclusion can be many, starting from the simple fact that we want to stay with another person who loves and prays to the Gods as you do, that accepts your daily meditations duties, that you can freely do your magical workings without hiding or waiting to find the privacy to do them, and so on so forth.
So why am I here talking about this?
Starting from the point of view of a Zevist who is single, the harsh truth is that not everyone will be lucky enough to find a dedicated Zevist as a partner in this life. It is true that we are many, but compared to the global population, we are so few. The chances of finding another Zevist as a partner are low. These chances reduce more because we don't go around wearing a symbol that screams "Hey, I am a Zevist!", and we (hopefully all of you do this) are cautious about everyone knowing that you are a Zevist, especially in some countries that can be very dangerous.
So, we learn that chances are low. Chances get lower if we think that magically, that person will pop up in front of our house without doing anything.
What should we do then? Spend the rest of your life alone with the hope of finding the perfect Zevist partner, or live a beautiful life with another "normal" person that loves you and supports you?
Consider the case: you find a partner that you like, both in aspect and behavior, you spend quality time with him/her, you are happy during that time and wish to spend more time with them, she/he is not xian or muslim, not a lefty, not a junkie, not a self-destructive person. But, he/she doesn't see the Gods as you do, doesn't love them with the same intensity as you do, doesn't meditate as you do, but accepts these things as normal. What would you do? Ignore him/her just because you don't see a potential dedicated Zevist? I don't think it would be the right choice to do.
Good compatibility is what you need to search for. Can Zevism be used as the only metric to determine the compatibility of a partner? Of course not, like you don't use only the physical appearance, or a single interest that you have in common. Many aspects need to be checked. Astrology is great in understanding whether your (potential) partner has good compatibility with you or not. You could ask the Gods to guide you to a Zevist partner, but it is much more logical that They, since They know us more than we do about ourselves, lead us to a person that can fill your life with love and joy, Zevist or not. In the end, if someone wants only a Zevist partner, is he truly searching for true love or just trying to fill an egoistical, and possibly elitistic need of just staying together with another Zevist?
Let's not forget that Zevism is a personal path much of the time. It is true that we share our experiences, meditations, and we help each other, but must of the time we work on ourselves alone. We have our individual goals to reach, and our collective goals. It could happen that staying with another Zevist could clash the paths. Maybe your partner is dedicated but doesn't meditate that much or at all. Your partner doesn't love the Gods as much as you do, or doesn't dedicate much of their time to ToZ in general. And these things may hurt you, and you may start to have a negative view of them. We are not Gods, so we still make human mistakes. If the relationship starts degrading, reaching a breaking point, the sole fact that your partner is a Zevist cannot be used as a reason to continue living an empty, unhealthy relationship. (To be called a Zevist is not a matter of just dedicating; thus, a real Zevist behaves following the Sacred Ethics in all their parts, and the situations just described shouldn't even be reached.
As both Lady Maxine and High Priestess Lydia have stated many times, life needs to be fully lived and enjoyed. Don't neglect this aspect of your life. A relationship can make you grow tremendously; a family will transform you. Aim for the beautiful things life has to offer.
May the Gods bless you all!
