The dedication ritual is a start. You're better off doing the dedication (when you feel ready), because you will be protected by Satan and all of the Demons and Demonesses of Hell until you are strong enough to do it on your own. You can still do some of the beginner meditations on ToZ without dedicating, but it'll be easier for the enemy to make you decide against dedicating your soul.

You do not have to dedicate your soul to Satan before starting a meditation program, but it's ideal to do so, if you believe in Him. 
About the christian "god", well, he *doesn't* exist, so you don't have to be rid of him, but of the brainwashing you've been fed for so long... I believe doing the dedication ritual (whenever you feel ready) will be a huge first step towards denying all the lies you've been taught.From then on, do your own study (www.templeofzeus.org and www.https://templeofzeus.org/LiturgicalTerms.php), have your eyes open and be aware. Doing the meditations will also help you to see things more clearly.
