Amazingly, it is possible to warm/cool yourself via a meditative
visualization exercise. I more or less stumbled upon it years ago when
seeking a drug-free way to deal with high-blood pressure, then decided to
try it to warm/cool (depending on the weather &/or surroI unding). It worked
well for blood pressure; to cool down or heat up, results have been mixed,
possibly because I haven't kept up with it as much as I 'should' have.
In a meditative trance, visualize a "thermometer" or similar type of
measuring device, however you wish to see it, but i had a baseline on mine.
If the 'temperature', so to speak, (remember, (I'm speaking of high blood
pressure here right now) was above that base line, which represented
'normal', then I would have to bring it down via breathing exercises to the
base line.
With cooling off or warming up, the idea is similar, i.e., if you feel cold,
you will see an 'indicator' below the base line and the opposite is true if
you are too hot. The idea is to raise or lower the 'indicator' to the base
line.
But don't expect miracles with this until and unless you work with it a lot.
Some Yogis are adept at this, but that definitely does not include me. For
instance, during our recent heat wave, I was in too much distress to even DO
the exercise (I have had heat stroke three times in my life, and even one
instance leaves you extremely heat-sensitive for the rest of your life).
Had I taken the time to master this earlier, perhaps I may not have felt so
debilitated this time around, who knows ... just a realistic heads-up ...
But there have been times when I have had success (more likely when I need
to warm up, but perhaps that's because I can handle cold much better than
heat.
Anyway, do try it.

Does anyone know of a meditation to make yourself colder?
