Perhaps we should open the forum for suggestions as to how to best use their own publicity stunt to destroy their credibility?

It would make a welcome change to the usual scenario whereby these fools just melt away without any accoutability only to re-emerge a few years later with more of this crap.

I have always thought the people at the top echelons of these doomsday xian cults know their predictions are false, that they are pure BS when they utter them.

The purpose?
1) To create negative energy (this is extremely important, even vital);
2) to increase their membership while at the same time make sure those already on the rolls don't stray -- all accomplished by manipulating the the powerful emotion of fear;
3) to bring any fence-sitters who might be getting skeptical back into the fold.

So the doomsday predictions actually fulfill the purpose for which they were uttered.

The Jehovah's Witnesses, for example, have been pulling this stunt for well over a century yet they never tire of it; they don't change tactics even in the face of all those failed predictions & the laughter that follows. "Armageddon" is always "right around the corner", is going to come "in a few months" -- and some even parrot the silly phrase "in a few weeks."

Remember, these already brainwashed people are fed outright lies from the get-go, not unintentional misinterpretations or accidental premature conclusions, but outright LIES. The system is built on lies. Lies can't survive scrutiny and can't stand on their own without constant propping up and reinforcement and, of course, more lies.

If anything remotely "good" ever comes of this nonsense it's that after a few of these faulty "end of the word" dates come and go, it finally dawns on some of their people that they've been lied to, that they have had enough, and leave.
