I've seen the kidneys mentioned quite a bit in regards to health, like with diabetes and teeth. I was wondering if someone could explain what exactly... all that is and what everyone means. I'm pretty lost when it comes to the kidneys and the energy and health associated with it, if that makes sense.
I'm a type one dibetic, and i feel like i should probably know more about this haha Any help would be greatly appreciated. What exactly is everyone talking about when they mention the kidneys in this group? And how would i go about correcting or balancing those kidney energies and whatnot? And what does everyone mean when they say an illness is hot or cold?
Thank you in advance, everyone.
Hail Satan and the mighty Gods!

The Kidneys in the sense that they are described here refers to functional aspects of the body which the Chinese attributed to the Kidney organ in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

According to TCM, the Kidneys govern conception, reproduction, sexual organs (and energy), genetics. The Kidneys rule growth and development, hearing and they participate in respiration (breathing). The Kidneys also hold the essence, which is the foundation of all human life, and the Kidneys rule the essence we inherit from our parents as well as the transformation of food into essence (digestion).

The Kidneys provide the fire of our bodies (Kidney Yang) and the cooling substance which makes our body up (Kidney Yin).

The Kidneys control the two lower orifices (anal and urethral sphincters), they manifest in the hair on the head and the local region associated with them is the lower back. The feet are also controlled by the kidneys.

Since the Kidneys support the digestive fire, people with Diabetes (type 1) have a problem with the Kidney energy supporting the digestion of the Spleen (pancreas) and Stomach.

This can manifest as cold or hot type, as can any disease of the body excepting a few which are either or and this classification is according to the symptoms - cold symptoms often leave the patient feeling cold most of the time with other key indicators of cold - frequent urination, severe and fixed pain and other things which indicate slowness or congealing. Hot symptoms show when a person has frequent fevers or often feels too warm, urination is scanty, there is burning pain or pain which is worse with heat and insomnia with other symptoms which indicate energy rising (headaches, red and dry eyes) as heat rises.

These are basically observations of the human body during disease which can be related to naturally observable phenomena. This enables a person to be able to merely view the outside of the body and make accurate assessment to the state of another's health without the need for blood tests, x-rays or other technology based diagnostic tests.

TCM is less concerned with the anatomically observable changes at the location of a supposed disease and more concerned with the body overall and its functional deficits in the pathology and treatment of illness.

So, how do i go about balancing those energies? Is there a certain meditation or do i just make affirmations?
And... uh... what is that acronym?

since: "transformation of food into essence (digestion). "

Are there any foods that you'd recommend to help the kidney energy?
Probably it factors in weather it is a yin or yang problem, but I think it'd be interesting to know a bit more about this.

Also how are the feet connected with the kidneys?

Alyssa, Centralforce was basically telling you to get into balancing any deficits relating to kidney health, researching supplements, herbs, and most importantly for slow but long-term and eventually permanent benefit, practice of Qi Gong variants.

Browse this group for pretty much any topic and Central and others will have discussed a general culmination of the three things mentioned above for balancing your body.  I wish you the best in restoring your body to what could have been, and with that you'll see miracles are achievable with clarity, and discipline.

The feet are connected with the Kidneys by virtue of their position at the base of the body, as the most Yin position and by their support of the bony structures of the body.

Feet are also the point at which the blood circulation of the whole body can be affected, just as the kidneys control the blood pressure and blood composition.

With respect to balancing Kidney energies, this can be done through balancing chakras and harmonising meditations in general, such as following intense power meditation with void and/or relaxing third eye meditations.

Correct diet helps to balance the kidneys by the balance of the five flavours (spicy, salty, sour, bitter and sweet) as does an appropriate balance of mental stimulation, movement, rest, playfulness and seriousness (related to sound decision making and planning) without excesses of each over a large amount of time.

Emotional moderation also balances the Kidney energies that is, not over indulging in fear, grief, anger, excitement or worry but experiencing each one and (hopefully) moving on. A focus on the cultivation and practice of patience, courage, flexibility (mentally and physically) and calm are also useful however this is high end stuff, and you won't read it about it in many books on the subject.
