Japanese swords are said to have souls. (/Part of the samurai's soul lives in them.)
Is this just a myth? Or are some really connected to an entity? An attached thoughtform?
I'd really like to know more about this as I happen to own one. (I've been longing for it for years…)
Is it just folklore or…?

I don't know much about Japanese swords, but I'm sure that's a myth to further entice the listeners of the legend of the samurai. A lot of myths are allegories for something else. If a swords carries the soul of its wielder, that could be seen as the life of that person. After all, back then swords were made for self defense of others trying to kill. It would be an important object to the person since it would be what gave them a chance of survival. They don't actually carry a soul. The only thing you can do would be infuse energy into it.

Infuse the sword with your own energy make it an extension of your self. If done properly use for only self.protection. you and ur physical form can use the sword for drastic physical protection.

Considering it took so many years to learn to craft a sword like those, and so long and so much work to actually make one, it might be related to the modern "blood, sweat, tears" idea of hard labor. Or there's a spiritual aspect to the crafting of the sword, where mind body and soul all work together.
As for it having a soul, everything has energy, which is suppose to be a soul. Nothing complicated like a human soul or animal, but energy in general. It may also represent the weight and guilt of having killed using a blade, or the swordsman's again, blood sweat and tears, of training with the blade.

Hi seeker,

I dont know about japanese sword but where i come from, we (traditionally) often bound our weapon or certain rare object with spirit and entity to get specific effect and power while wielding them. Such as keris(google them). These spirit or entity have great bond/relationship with the owner. Like us and daemon. A pact of agreement if you will.

I guess japanese sword could be done the same if you want.
