Last week there were 3 seperate occasions days apart in which I was approached by jehovas witnesses on the street and given their pamphlets. I'm sure many of you have experienced this and know what I'm talking about. The first time I was unaware of it. I was sitting at the bus stop at night and a black guy came over to me like hey how u doin etc not to be a racist but I thought he was just trying to hit on me.. it happens a lot to me with black males when I'm downtown.. so I was kinda confused when he layed down a piece of paper on the seat next to me and walked away without another word. I honestly assumed he was handing me his number. I didn't look at it for awhile and continued smoking my cig. I finally got curious and looked at it. It was dark but I saw crosses and shit about jesus and stuff. Damn another jehovas witness first time I got one of these in a few years. But here was my concern. I thought, what would Satan want me to do about it? Should I throw it in a trash bin.. destroy it? Hand it back to the guy and give him words about how he shouldn't be peddling the nazerene? I ended up tearing it up in front of him so that no lost soul could retrieve it and be mislead and throwing it in a wastebasket. I still wondered wwsd what would Satan do ? Skip a few days later I'm walking into a store a guys like good afternoon ma'am there's something I important I have for you he tried to hand me a pamphlet and I rudley said no and he got all shy and defeated and we briskly walked away from eachother. Again, I wondered if it would've been better to take it to destroy it so that thered be one less person he would give it to.. someone unlike me.. someone without the knowledge of the truth. Then my friends and I are in a very long line to go on something called the haunted ship. Its literally an old ship docked in port that they decorate for halloween and actors jump out and scare you as you walk through. There's a big group out jehovas witnesses protesting the haunted ship because they think halloween is evil. Here they are begging little children not to go on and handing out prayer cards crucifixes and pamphlets. Fucking disgusting. They have to rain on every parade. I was very hurt inside when some parents felt the fear of the enemy in them and were convinced to take their kids home. Families leaving the line, pamphlets in one hand, and the tiny hand of their child in the other looking crushed that he'd miss out on the fun as they walked back to their cars. Disgusting! Anways, what would Satan mostly want me to do in these situations?

The JW's are a nuisance and extremely persistent. But I think one of those groups you encountered may have been something else because, unless they've changed, the JW's do not use the cross or crucifixes in any form -- they insist the nazarene was not crucified but impaled and their illustrations always show the nazarene figure nailed to an upright stake (which is NOT impalement either but merely a form of crucifixion w/o the crossbar) with it's arms above its head. There are several small, localized, fundamentalist cult groups that seem to have taken their cue from the JW's " & engage in "street preaching". Now you not only get hauled out of bed on the one day you might get to sleep in, you can't even go to the supermarket without being harassed!

At any rate, you have to take each situation as it comes. You definitely did the right thing. If they insist on leaving their rubbish with you, just dispose of it. I refuse to accept it. I was accosted on the street a few weeks ago by a pair of them that wouldn't give up, even walking along with me spewing their drivel. I said to them, in effect, "You're wasting your time and mine. I worship Satan and I will never change." They took off as fast as their legs would propel them!

Whenever I find xian literature of any sort I get rid of it. I recently tossed a "Book of Mormon" into the dumpster. It had been left in the little "lobby library" of our condo building.

I can't tell you what Satan would want you to do, but if they started coming around my street I would prepare my own little pamplets called "exposingjehovaswitnesses" or "JoyofSatan".

I would suggest you carry something like this around with you to hand to them when they hand you their pamplet, but don't rip up theirs until after you're out of their sight. Or even hand out the stickers in the files section.

There's a line between free speech and trying to pressure someone into doing something, which, oh yeah, is illegal. Thank you, America... In the JV and basically every Christian-related 'faith', theirs is a faith of fear, which was something that turned me off to it when I was a kid... But in response to your question, probably the best way of dealing with this is to be polite and just get rid of anything they try to push on you asap. Trash compactors, paper shredders... If the JV or anyone else for that matter harasses you, the cops are generally pretty helpful in this. Hopefully this helps...   Faith is a matter of personal opinion, and should never be pushed on another person, especially by fear.

In response to this particular message , yes you are right i was not sure if they were in fact j.w. i just assumed that because those are the xians who are the most famous for being peddlers. i cannot confirm what kind of christians they were, just xians... but maybe maybe not j.w. either way what theyre doing isnt right
