Physical alchemy is an allegory of spiritual alchemy like sulfur and quickslilver are actually the 2nd chakra and pineal gland secretions. Before christianity there were detailed spiritual alchemical texts and the Vatican confiscated them and have in their library and killed everyone having alchemical knowledge.
Therefore people having that knowledge were forced to make them into alegories as if it is physical alchemy. This was done to avoid being burned by the inquisition. And many people buy that and believe they were really trying to make gold out of water of something lol. They don't realize physical alchemy is an allegory.

If you read about alchemy, there are both physical and spiritual alchemy. The methods listed on the OPS are no doubt spiritual alchemy, or transmuting the soul. God head cannot be reached without alchemy, but it is not the physical form of alchemy.
