I had a very scary dream last night.

Last night I dreamed about a period of great upheaval and natural disasters. The dream started with me in my bed and the entire house shaking. I ran outside to see my entire neighborhood destroyed. houses were on fire, the pavement was cracked, people looked like they were genuinely going insane and from my beach i could see planes and ships approaching (I had the feeling that they were the "Enemy") I was terrified but i felt someone (I assume father Satan) comfort me and say "I'll protect you".
Do you think that it was just a dream, or was father Satan trying to warn me of something? I have always had extremely vivid dreams, but this felt like reality. I could smell the smoke and feel the heat, and i could feel my heart beating out of my chest. The dream really shook me up and i wanted some advice, has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this or know of someone who has?

I had a very similar dream a couple of months ago. It started very strangely, with a man I used to have a crush on but haven't seen in a very long time, beckoning me to him. He would be standing far away from me, in a doorway or something, beckon me to come over to him with a weird sly grin on his face, and then disappear. This happened repeatedly. I was very confused. 
Then all of a sudden I was outside and it was quite dark. There were people panicking and running around everywhere. Huge tornados and gusts of wind were destroying things. Everything was in mass hysteria. I started seeing enormous tornados in very vivid detail, even seemingly more detail than waking life if that is possible. This went on for awhile, running away and gawking at the tornado..then suddenly I was above the storm. I had a birds eye view. I was looking down on the earth, and I could total death and destruction encompassing our planet. Literally everything I could see was covered in dark clouds, tornados, whirlwinds, rain, etc etc. 
Unlike you, I didn't hear any words of protection or encouragement. I woke up after viewing the storm from up above. 
This dream rattled me a great deal when I first had it.

That is also pretty odd i had a very similar dream. First i was viewing a valley from a TV like appreance then i was there. Then tons of tornadoes came down and was chasing people around my parents were off on the right and i was running way down from them and i woke up after that.
