I am brand new to this....

I came across the website just today, and found much of it intriguing, especially the section for atheists, as I have traditionally identified myself as.

But before I get to far involved with this, I just have one question, and I don't mean for it to sound stupid or insulting to anyone's beliefs but....

The site makes Satan and demons sound like they are friendly to human beings who are open to having a relationship with them. Yet, I find a lot of the imagery (hellfire, goat heads, etc.) frightening to look at.

So my question is this....If they are really good and on the side of humans, why does it have to appear so scary?

We understand and you are really right.
To be honest with you, we recently discussed this topic. But first ask yourself, the baphomet, the demonskull and the colors and stuff. Why is it scary to you? It is because you are taught to find it scary.
As you can see on the page on Satan, he actually looks like the xians depict Angels, for he himself is the light-bearer Lucifer.

We all try our best to depict father Satan as good as possible, and that some things are deemed as scary, so be it.
I myself used to be scared as hell when I saw a cross on the wall of my school with the skinny, crippled looking, blooded Nazarene =p
You cant tell me that is not scary =L

They don't look scary - The enemy tries to make them out to be scary as hell (no pun intended) so that you stay away from Satan & his demons.

Well, if the xian church demonises our friends and programs the sheep to believe it than no wonder than even atheists (AND I don't believe that there are PURE atheists; 90% of atheists are in fact passive xians or at lest have xian upbringing) consider Gods/Demons to be evil. The xian brainswashing program is one of the most wide and aggressive, yet not without fallacies. They impose the belief that angels are good, but in fact they guard the access to knowledge, preventing us form obtaining it. And just today, my colleague told me 'the less you know, the better you sleep' which is a typical ignorant/xian attitude towards life.

They try to scare you away from demons and Satan that is true that is why they want everything to look scary when in reality it really isn't...

It looks so scary becaus you let it frighten you, and yes non satanists of society especialy christians want to scare you away from satan. remember the images of which went are describing an observation new are only as frightening as you you make them. And also remember nothing is going to be all sun shine and rainbows.
