In the beginning you may not be able to silence your thoughts completely, but you should remember that time and practice are the main thing in doing this.
You can let go of habits in your daily life that shorten your focus. For example, since social media can offer you a lot of content, you can look at a lot of other content until you choose the one you like, which shortens the focus time you spend per content. This is reflected not only in social media but also in your life.
I think Void Meditation, since it's in the beginner section, is thought to be an "easy" Meditation by some, but it's quite the opposite. It can take years and years of practice to achieve a high level. When this is achieved, it's a great sign of advancement. So just keep practicing.
Hi,
try doing this: set the timer to 20 seconds, when you give the start, focus only on your breath.
When the time runs out, forget about this exercise.
Let a few hours pass and repeat it. Each time the timer runs out, relax and forget about it.
Try to do it several times a day for a week. The next week, repeat the exercise, increasing the timer to 40 seconds. Then gradually proceed to increase the time.
Light a candle, focus on the flame for 5-10 minutes. Clasp your hands over your eyes, and try to keep the lightshadow from the flame bright and in the center of your vision. Once you can hold the lightshadow without it flickering or trying to fly out of your vision, you will have learned how to calm your mind. Keep this in practice. It will refine your flashlight into a laser pointer.
Think of meditation as physical exercise. Hitting the gym once isn’t gonna do much.
It’s ok if when you just start doing void meditation you cannot really still your mind. That’s to be expected. But if you keep doing void meditation, you will see the progress.
