As a battle-scarred debater in the religious forums, I think I have a few good words of advice to anyone who decides to try this. I have debated Christians, Atheists, and even Wiccans (and have seen some very bloody fights, esp between Christians and Atheists who have a special hatred for each other!). The first thing to know is this: if you go on there expecting to convert them to Satanism, you will fail. They CANNOT be converted, and that is not why they are there--they are there to make fun of you and convert YOU if possible. They will mock you, insult you, sling mud, try to confuse you, be kind in order to try to convert you, assume you are evil as their idea of Satan is from their bible (they have NO idea about Enki), quote endless bible verses, and try their hardest to make you admit you are wrong. What must you do in the face of such an onslaught? You must do two things: a) keep your dignity at all times--that means NO return mud-slinging, even though you will burn to do so, and b) stick to your guns no matter what they say. Atheists will mock you and say you believe in the tooth fairy--don't let it get to you, just answer calmly (I often have told them, "but the tooth fairy never showed me miracles, and Satan does"-- that is an example of sticking to your guns and keeping your dignity). The worst thing you can do is let them get you really angry, which they WILL TRY TO DO. It is their only real defense, besides their tiresome bible verses.
If you MUST go out on these forums, at least know what you are up against and what to expect. I think I was very right in trying to debate them (I don't do it anymore, I've "gone that route" and don't feel the desire to help them at all, for one thing)--but I learned the hard way how to go about it. Remember: keep your dignity, don't let them get to you (laughing helps, no matter what ridiculous ways they try to tear you down and make you PROVE what you say), and say your piece--don't allow them to admit they proved you wrong, stick to what you say. Repeat the same things, if necessary. And DO realize you will receive many, many thumbs-down votes. SO then, what would be the point in going out on these forums and debating these people whom you obviously can't help and don't want you there? Well, a few times I was actually praised for keeping my cool and stating calmly and firmly what I believed. that probably made it worth it. But I wouldn't do it again. And one last thing--if they should start querying about the finer details of what Spiritual Satanists believe, you are not obligated to educate them--refer them to the JOS website. Good luck.
