How can I tell if my friend's a Jew?

My best friend says her grandfather was adopted, and the people who adopted him says he was Jewish, but they're unsure. How can I tell if she has Jewish blood? I tried looking with a background search on her last name, but I've found nothing. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

The odd, rodent-like ears are a prominent "tell" -- even if they aren't set at right-angles to the face, they still have that strange shape -- and there's also very often a unique, predatory smile that always reminds me of a venomous snake about to strike (my apologies to the poisonous snake population of the world! LOL)

You generally won't find anything by running a background check. I myself am adopted and when this takes place your last name is legally changed to the adopters last name, while your actual birth documents get erased...it's fucked up I know but unfortunately that's just how our society is. Now if you can manage to find out her grandpa's original last name, if it contains a color or ends in stein, stien, berg, or burg chances are you have a jew the ratio is almost 9:1 on accuracy so it is very reliable
