This really make me look down on christians even more. When I was on the edge of leaving christianity about two years ago, I talked to a christian priest about it. He told me to go to this one place, I forget what it's called but it's one of thoughs few christian places that has a band a pool table and such. And each area is seperated by age.
Anyways, so I go to this place and it has a band, pool tables, ping pong, and a root beer bar. First members are givin free food and drinks the entire day. At first I enjoyed it mainly because my childhood best friend was there.
One day I get curious cause I'm a very curious person and I ask the man attending the bar what the money goes to. He says to the church. I ask him if it goes to a charity and he said no just the church. personaly I was thinknig that was extremly greedy so a so called caring religion.
It didn't stop there. Membership COSTED MONEY for ALL age groups, there was a medium size gift shop. Who knows how much the music equipment costed hell I went to guiar center to see how much the guitarist's guitar cost its was freaking $5,000!!! I didn't even bother to see the cost of the drum set and other equipment.
Not only that but the tech they had and the pool tables. The food, the giant plasma screen freakin TV on the wall! And that was jsut the high school area not the adult section. I looked through a window next to the door hell looked like it costed twice as much. They also have a gift shop and the stuff was expensive.
Seriously I added two and two together, these guys were greedy as hell. Also a side note I can play in circles around the guitar player and the band together. Seriously as expensive as their equipment is their music sucked.
I talked to the guitarist between me and him cause I play guitar to I'm a musician very good too. So I ask him what he can play. he says, "Greenday, Good Charlete," and other bands that begginer guitarist can play. I ask him how long he's been playing he says five years (I think he was about 17-19 years old) which was also pethetic. Hell by three years of decent practice most people can do decent solos.
He goes bragging that God is with him and he can play better than me and at the time I only had two years of experence under my belt but I ussualy practice a lot at the time th best I could play was a few Gunz N Roses songs which was pretty good accually.
I won't even bother gonig into the jam session. He handed me a guitar very expensive I should try to look it up and find out the name. But in a nutshell I schooled him and he had three years more expereince than me. That's very sad.
Point of this is, it's just pethetic how Christians have to spend so much damn money to get members. It's jsut ridiciulious. This event in ym life was part of the major reason why I elft christianity which I'm now Satanist.
