Maybe the "Gold" is allegorical for sould perfection, I think that Satan's intentions were those where the human could reach a high spiritual level and develop technology as the Gods, mixing the technology and the spiritual skills of the human race then humanity would serve an important role for other aliens. Something like, the planet earth being used as a planetary station for certain Aliens, the earth should provide materials or give a service for allied Aliens.For musical instruments, the Traverso flute made of gold gives a warm sound compared to other materiales.
