Suggestions on how to handle doctors when you are a minority religion such as SS and you wear your sigils? Because I've had my run-ins with the mental health field, and in order for them to be able to treat you while respecting freedom of religion, they say you should be open (so that they can distinguish between that which I define as part of my religion and that which would normally be labeled as "hallucinatory"). Conspiracies aside, I have a court-ordered treatment team that comes and visits me, and hiding my religion from them is rather difficult (they can see my stuff where I live). Most don't even believe in the spiritual realms that SS like us have experienced--they believe in the science of things only--and then there are those who come over, wearing their crosses, while I'm sitting there wearing my pentagram and sigil of Satan Lucifer. These are people that I unfortunately must have "friendly associations" with, else, I am deemed non-compliant with treatment and risk being committed again. The whole program and law system is just really uncomfortable, and I don't know what to do. We are supposed to have freedom of religion in this country, and I hate getting all flustered trying to explain my beliefs in a way that is palatable to the average joe so I can avoid being pestered about it as much as possible. As much as I hate the system, it's hard to convince the judge after being medicated why it is you are suddenly not being spiritually attacked (the meds have clogged my system up).
