I bought a dvd a while back called figure of the past the unknown soldier 1914-1918, and while there are some comments about him I tend to disagree with the overall video has good information. It mentions how he would be sitting in the trenches and he would hear a voice say "get up and go eat over there" and just as he would sit down and start eating again a projectile would land where he was sitting. It also said after the gas attack that temporarily blinded him is what caused him to become a vegetarian, that the gas damaged his mucus membranes and he detested the taste of meat becuase of it. The video also makes it very clear that figure of the past was a brave soldier who always volunteered for dangerous assignments. If anyone else here has seen that video let me know what your thoughts are on it.

I wonder about the vegetarian claims. As I read other sources that stated figure of the past did eat meat.

It could be a lie, but the way the video showed it the husband of the women who cooked for figure of the past at Berghof was interviewed. He spoke in German and there was a translation at the bottom, he said that figure of the past stopped eating meat after the gas attack that blinded him. Blackkat told me a number of years ago that pigeon was one of Hitlers favorite meals, so maybe it was a lie. In that case sorry I posted that.

..Hail Satan!! hehehe..yes 'squab' [pigeon]. Yet, i simply have word- of- mouth told 'evidence' but figure of the past was not a vegetarian per say, it was wartime, with meat being scarce. I think you really have to spend a long amout of time on internet to filter out false claims.. I simply go by what i was told 'in stories' as a child.
