Familiars, what do you guys think?

I decided to test to see if my dog is a familiar, after a ritual I called him over to the door of the room I did the ritual in. He did something odd, he walked up and spent like 30 seconds looking around the room before he brought his attention back to me, then he laid down right in front of the door. So I wanted to get other peoples insights on this. What are some other ways to tell if an animal is a familiar?

Hail Father Satan!! Do you seam to have a mental "connection" with the animal? my familiar {cat} senses all my moods and responds accordingly, one thing with him i can do is send mental "pictures" at him and 98% of the time he picks up on what i am "saying". example--if he is sitting with me, i would picture a room in the house and direct that thought at him to go to the room. he usually will pick it up and do it. if you want, e-mail me.
