Orwell was a member of the Fabian Society a Marxist organization dedicated to Marxist subversion. Fabious who the society is named after was a Roman general famous for never fighting a direct battle but wearing his enemy down with gradual attacks and tricks then moving in with the full army and destroying them when they were too weak to have a chance of victory.
