This is something I remember from childhood, a "trick" shown to me by a favorite Uncle.
Displayed to myself, as a child a "Magic Trick, I later found it was a "Bar Trick" employed to lure the unwary into the loss of coins.
The Elements observed in interaction are Earth, Air, Fire & Water.
What you will need is an Ashtray, a clear one, like ones from bars or cafe's. A glass of water, enough water to cover the bottom of the ashtray, or similar bowl, to the depth of about 10mm.
A stack of coins, enough to surface the Water comfortably, A few milimeters above the surface of the Water ( Coins work well because they provide a stable, flat surface), and a box or strip of matches.
As the "Trick" goes one lures the intended deceived into saying that you can get the water, from the ashtray (The water previously being poured into it from the glass), back into the glass without moving the ashtray, using only a match, and a few provided coins.
This is how it works: Pour the Water into the ashtray/bowl, stack the coins in the center of the ashtray or bowl, make sure the ones at the top remain dry. Light a match, place lit match, balancing carefully on the coins and cover the match and coins with the glass, upside down, letting go of the glass.
What happens next is an interaction of the Elements.
This has no "Magickal Application" as such, for no "Magick" is involved, neither "Trickery", but a Natural Interaction of Elemental Forces.
Watching this process can give the student a better understanding of this "Elemental" interaction.
