I'd apreciate anyones insight on thisI'm doing more research for my site, where I came across the rebirth and death of the sun, death being Samhain and and Rebirth being yule. Can I get what this is about. Sol is the name of the Roman sun god, and before you tell me, I know about Solomon. On numerous websites it says that the romans believed the sun was born every winter solstice, so they called it Dies Natalis Solis Invicti translating into "birthday of the invincible sun", in the old roman calander this was 25th of decmeber which is the "birth of jebus"What is this all about, especially the rebirth and death of sun part???

Allegorical. It relates to the "As Above, So Below" part I explained in another post. The sun is also symbolical of the perfected soul and the witchpower. That death and rebirth of the sun are symbolic of stages of the Magnum Opus. If you look on the newsletter group I believe HP Don has written many posts about the symbolism of the sun.

So then why were they signified on those dates, the stages of the Magnum Opus?

What the Sun does there is comparable to what happens with the Soul during the Magnum Opus. You go through the dark stage (winter, cold, death of plants etc) where all the dross is cleared out and then are reborn in light and perfection (day after the longest night of the year, longer hours of sunlight etc).
