Concerning Dedication

I am in conflict with whether or not my dedication was done sufficiently,my concern is the timing and lack of materials such as a "dry pen",my dedication was done as simply as a red candle("sort"of like a glade),the recitation,sterilized knife(placed in boiling water),small amount of blood on the recitation.My dedication was rather spontaneous and is whats the conflict,am I over thinking? because regardless I believe in my self empowerment and the material available to me through Father and those he has chosen to relay our practices.
