Castes and spirituality - question

Hello my dear brothers, I've been thinking about some things from the ancient world, and now I'm wondering how spirituality worked in the old days.
I know that when the Gods were on earth, knowledge was free and open to all humans who wanted to follow them.
But after that the pagan peoples split up and kept some teachings in some civilizations.
Was spiritual knowledge in the best pagan civilizations really divided by caste? For example, someone who was rich had specific rituals and things to do to connect to the Gods and become divine
While an ordinary worker just lit a candle to the Gods, but had no idea how to meditate? And become a God?

Or did the castes come about because there are people who have no interest in spirituality? Not everyone wants to meditate. Not everyone wants to spend the time to even light a candle for their Gods. Some people feel that they have enough to manage with their own lives and do not want to put in the time and effort for spirituality.

Just something to consider.

However, perhaps in the ancient days, the individual commoners who were very spiritual were helped to receive more spiritual knowledge... or perhaps they were not incarnated into a family where they would have no access to spirituality.

Hmm I see, I thought caste was divided by birth chart or luck at work.
Perhaps wealthier people of noble class really were more humble, wise and kind, to the point of receiving a lot of knowledge
Different from the others?
I think this was really because times were harder and people were constantly evolving.

Thank you very much for your reply HPS Lydia
Forgive me for my writing, I'm using a translator.

If I remember correctly, someone said that very basic notions and practices were available to everyone. The rest was only taught in mystery schools, so only available through the priesthood and the spiritual class in general. Not everything was free and open. In JoS we have advanced knowledge that was never directly available to the public before, and it's now only available because it's necessary to raise the level of many people quickly so we can defeat the enemy (and to help people who are advanced and powerful from past lives more easily integrate their souls with their body so they can get back to the point they left at).

HPS Lydia's suggestions are also quite intriguing.

As now, the same as back then, who work for it shall receive. Nobody gets advanced information without them being advanced. The ones that work on their soul will eventually receive knowledge, both by nature and from the Gods.

Take in mind that "Wealth" at that time doesn't only meant money, but spiritual development, spiritual power also.

And yes, "Paganism" and that humanity have split up, was the first step down, we were already attacked by the enemy, around 10 thousands of years ago. So there were people who did not cared about spirituality, and that's the reason for it.

I see, so practices like yoga have always been ingrained in ancient society, regardless of their level of wealth or power.
This was very useful for the preservation of knowledge, even a diluted one is capable of carrying someone.

Has anyone considered the meaning of the statement 'many will want to join, but it will be too late' by HPS Pythia? When you grasp this you shall understand part of this.

Isn't this refers to that the enemy will go insane and "if they fall, humanity falls" type of thing? I always thought that it means this.

Read Plato's "The Republic" if you want to know more about a more perfect civilization and how castes would be in that civilization.
