No matter how capable a leader may be, there are only so many people one person can guide and manage effectively. Structure exists for a reason. A commander cannot lead an entire army alone. He must rely on the many ranks of officers beneath him to execute his vision, maintain discipline, and ensure that order is preserved throughout the structure. At every level there is both guidance from above and responsibility toward those below.
