Currently I'm exploring / re-visiting the affects of brainwave training.

It is made quite clear the affects of entering each brainwave state on JoS: https://satanisgod.org/www.angelfire.com/empire/serpentis666/Brainwaves.html

However I'm seeking information on long term affects of repeatedly entering higher or lower states.

If - for example - you become proficient in entering the theta state required for profound astral experiences, how does this affect your ability to operate at the beta and gamma states required for increased intellectual performance?

Also, in each state, we become less "conscious", but as we fall into alpha/theta - can we learn to maintain control/focus through repeated practice? How does that developed control of lower states transform into control in higher states?

Through experience, I theorise that any control developed in lower states amplifies our ability to control higher states. That said, I really would like to hear from some people who have the knowledge and experience to confirm or even elaborate on this topic.

One final question: in Theta state, we are essentially operating subconsciously. This is the level we'd be at in a very deep trance. If not using the conscious mind, what exactly is used to execute ritualistic instruction. Are we to develop a level of control over the subconscious mind - is that really possible in the absence of conscious thought? In astral travel (theta) for example, how is memory effectively retained and how can we execute our intentions.

I really feel there's a mastery in all of this and that is what I'm looking for.

I wouldn't do anything that requires a trance if there is likelihood of you being disturbed. Keep in mind that most beginner meditations require a light trance at the very least. Witchcraft requires a mixed state called theta-gamma, in which you are both in a deep focus and in a deep trance. While witchcraft may work without this, it will have maximum power and effect upon reaching this state.

Unfortunately, you may find out that this is easier said than done. This is because it requires both hemispheres of the brain to be in perfect sync/harmony, which only happens sporadically at first. A continuous hemisync can only happen in preliminary stages of kundalini, when your ida and pingala nadih have been permanently balanced. And afterward when they are merged/married. This is the holistic state of mind, when creativity and logic work together in harmony.

Being knocked out of a trance is very dangerous, as everyone should know already since it's given among the preliminary info before starting meditation. It can lead to nervous system damage, your hearing may also be damaged.

I found this reply from stormblood in another topic. It's very relevant.

This answer makes perfect sense to me. I do wonder what everyday conscious life would be like to experience with both hemispheres permanently balanced
