Astrology question....anyone?

I am studying astrology and I have a bit of a query, for anyone who might be able to help. I have read that the 4th house shows your "Parent of lesser influence, usually the father" and that the 10th house shows your "parent of greater influence, usually the mother." When Maxine did my chart, she wrote that since I have Uranus in my 10th house and it rules my 4th empty house, that I was probably closer to my father than my mother, which is absolutely true. My question is--is the 4th house actually the house that shows the Mother, and the 10th house the house that shows the Father--or the other way around? I've read books that disagree on which is which, and I am confused. My father is DEFINITELY the "parent of GREATER influence." Would appreciate any advice from fellow astrologer students or adepts, thanks.

the 4th house is related to cancer, water sign, symbolizing "the breast and womb of all things", I think the 4th is related to the mother.

I have been thinking about it and the fact that Cancer is ruled by the Moon makes it almost certain the 4th house represents the Mother, therefore the 10th would represent Father, and their "greater" or "lesser" influence is negligible. The person who said it was the other way around didn't know what he was talking about evidently, thanks for your input...
