This judgement is automatic, regardless of one's awareness. Every soul is weighed against the feather of Ma'at, while alive and in death. We all must answer to the Gods whether or not we lived a virtuous life; this accountability is ever-present, which is why purification in thought, word, deed, and soul is ongoing.
To declare one's innocence in front of the Gods is to affirm one's purity, one's resolve to live a life of Ma'at.
Every deceased person answers because no soul escapes the articulated afterlife judgement that the Egyptian heritage revealed to us.
Many of the decisions and actions we make in life, when compared to the laws of the cosmos (Ma'at), leave us in the ledgers with accounts of weight debt on the soul. This applies to all human beings as we are part of the cosmos.
The Zevists' study of the Egyptian Book of the Dead is very empowering as it helps us be more consciously aware of our contributions to the world. We should contribute in ways which are positive and Ma'at-aligned because of our social responsibility to society and the reason for the Judgement is for us all to be able to recognise our personal responsibility to become closer to Truth by valuing Justice.

There is no actual hall in which you go into and practically get "judged" in front of judged. It might be perceived this way or inconographically depicted this way to assist in your understanding.
What these rites explain is mechanical, these are laws of the universe, not just some arbiter punishing you and if you say the wrong thing you are doomed.
It's literally the condition of your soul itself that "judges itself", not external parties (in 99% of cases). This means that the soul condition itself, decides where it's going to be later, it's not enforcement unless in the rarest cases.
One doesn't have to verbalize "I did X, I did Y", the soul condition reflects what one already has done automatically. The iconography and the myth around this is supposed to help the mind understand how it goes, not to focus your mind on a potentially harmful judgement.
The same overlapping notion of judgement exists as iconography to say this: "What you have done in your life, decides the quality of the soul - this further decides what will happen to you in your next life. Do your best so it's good, live life, it's understood life will require both good and evil, remain on balance and tentative to good as much as possible".
In exceptional cases of evil it's recorded higher entities can step in and these trigger another course, which can show "judgement", but this is beyond the scope of evil of 99% of the human population.
Considering that every day 170.000 people die on average, would be crazy to manage/judge (only earth). If I don´t remember wrong Ares ones said: "Most souls just reincarnate." I assume higher entities can also elevate a souls next live.
