The disciple asking questions in the ethics is indeed an interesting way of narrating. Because that disciple is touching on some complex points and getting answers. This increases the enjoyment and the wisdom one feels when reading the ethics, because you feel as if you are being taught by Lady Astarte in a sacred building in ancient times.
