Ah... Ritual for self improvement?

Hello.I'd like to ask about this... since I'm a bit confused and mentally conflicted. :p
Is it possible, to do a ritual for self improvement?Normally, do a Standard Ritual, but in the prayer write what our goals are, and maybe even start a working that way?
They say that with a ritual the workings begin in a much more powerful way etc... Does this have to do with our Gods "lending us their strength" (or, so to speak?) or in the ritual in itself?Aaah, this is difficult to express.
Wouldn't it be entirely selfish to "use" our Gods power for our own benefit? I mean, I know how to do workings and the like, and I don't find self improvement a "bad" thing (I mean wtf, humanity's purpose is to reach spiritual and physical perfection) but I'm just confused about the whole thing...
For example, in joS it says that equinoxes are good times to begin things; rituals for putting things into action. So, would it be proper if I did a Standard Ritual and began (for example) a 40 days Working with certain runes about my own advancement? Or am I completely wrong about this?

Spiritual Satanism IS self-improvement of the highest degree ;)If there is something you want to improve though, then yes by all means do a Working for it. Starting a Working with a Ritual does add lots of power. Ritual connects us not on;y to the Gods and Satanic Energies but to the planets etc too, depending on your goals, timing etc.We invoke the Energies of The 4 Crowns in Ritual as you know. This is using their power, and it is OK. They WANT us to improve, in every possible way. And they are usually willing to help with their energy and power, if you step forward and take the task upon yourself first. Doing a Working shows you are not asking for it to be given to you but that you are stepping up and doing the work. So stop worrying ;) And if it is something really big that you can't do entirely on your own, you can even ask for some assistance if you wish. Although, I have personally found it best not to do so - it is reliance and can actually mean you subconsciously put less into the goal, rather than fully applying yourself. Also, the Gods respect our utmost effort and full commitment and often, help will be given because because of this. Plus, starting with a Ritual allows you to boost the power anyway and the process of connecting with The Gods and those energies and stating your intention before them can go a long way.All the best for your endeavors ;)

Wuaah, that response.. Thank you very much!!! :D :DYour words brought a big smile on my face. :D
I will do so then! :) :)
And about asking help, I've discovered about myself, that I truly like to do things on my own, and see the results afterwards of my own power... Unless it was an emergency and I was desperate (which has happened once before and I'm TRULY thankful for the help I received), I will not ask for help, since I... how to say this.. I really really really enjoy putting my own power and fixing whichever problems/making whatever I desire to manifest... I love the feeling of this, of the achievement. :DThank you very much for your advices, and the help! :)

It's a pleasure :)And your attitude and way, is excellent. You have honor and take pride in your self, this shows in your approach. Keep that up!!

I recently started a working/ritual with the same Goal.

The working is my own, the ritual my own. I am putting in the effort and the work to achieve my goals, but also, I am asking the Gods for their assistance and guidence throughout. This is not selfish, it is common sence to seek help, assistance and guidence where needed.
I am currently using the runes Jera and Fehu. Emphasis on the nature of Jera to ignight a 'spring' in my own life, and to develop new growth and change that is beautiful and positive (much like spring). Jera is the rune that represents the seasons, and the changes into the seasons. That all things have a 'seasonal cycle' much like our own lives.

Thanks for adding to this, as I forgot about asking for guidance! This IS important of course, as the Gods have all the facts as well as wisdom and understanding beyond anyone.Their guidance can make all the difference. All the best for your goals too Brother Amlug ;)

Since coming to Satanism this self improvement mentality has become a whole new thing to me. How would i (or anyone else with this problem really) get past the "not wanting to self improve" thing? I meditate for 2 hours daily and don't skip days, i perform working daily too at the right planetary hours and i don't have a problem advancing spiritually or physically. but i do have a huge problem with wanting to advance mentally, emotionally and socially. its like i almost dont want to be happy and stay in my shell forever but..at the same time i do want to be happy?

and im glad you mentioned that its not selfish to ask for guidance. i've asked before and nothing happened so i backed off from asking for help with anything..also because i don't believe i have anything to offer that has the same value in exchange for assistance.

I have already had great results. The next day I was offered a job, the day the relationship with my best friend was fixed, the day after that I got another job offer, the day after that I got the second job offer. This was all only 5 days into the 90 day working.
This shows the power one is capable of with the right dedication, practice, knowledge and timing.
