How do I go about becoming wise? i have always been a bit of a jokester, and all my friends know me that way, as someone who always jokes about everything. But I want to be seen differently. I want others to view me as someone they can trust and respect. However, I don't want to be fake or hypocritical. I would like to change completely who I am, in an authentic way, and not just pretend to be something I'm not.

You can achieve that by living your life, by applying the Teachings of Zevism, and by studying and applying the Virtues.

You can start from Lord Apollon, Goddess Astarte, Lord Zeus, Lord Kronos, and Life Ethics overall.

You can also take a general look initially.
Writing these down if you have the possibility, is very great.

Another thing, Wisdom, Power and Knowledge isn't about flexing or going around to play the "wise character", but about your own Path of Evolution with the Gods.

Living your life is the most important aspect where all the rest is based on.
You will also learn with time, that Silence is a Golden Virtue.

This doesn't mean you have to isolate yourself or that you have to break really meaningful relations with others that are useful for your life.

Stay safe, and may the Gods guide you, Brother!

Fail. Over and over again.

The science behind Yoga says flexibility of the spine raises cognitive ability.

Activating and balancing the chakras raises awareness.

Reading philosophy from a Zevist point of view after reading our sites gives True perspective of the physical plane.

Lastly, but certainly not least, life experiences raises wisdom greatly. So don't become a hermit. :)

If you have cultivated your personality as you mentioned then no need to do a complete overhaul. All you have to do is transmute this personality into a more refined manner.

Being funny is a great trait to have in the physical plane. It can take you far in life if you utilize it in the correct scenarios. Most people, even the wise and successful, will want to be around you.

Being a jokester and how you act with outsiders are a completely different dimension from being wise. The two doesn't cancel each other.
Now to be wise you'll also need to experience things and mature, this may also change your character as well if you are still young, maybe you'll become more serious.
And serious is really the word here you say you want to become, not wise.

Being wise means knowing the truth about things, having experience, seeing things from a higher perspective, seeing things as they are, and such. This is very deep and of course have different levels.
Now I'm gonna tell you the truth as well, sadly or not sadly, it is definitely harsh for some, but reaching a higher state of mind, where you gain a lot of wisdom, a lot can be achieved with regular advancement, but higher levels are really not possible with it, but only with specific methods to open the mind and some related chakras like the 3rd eye. Much of these are not public but can be bought from HoO, but for example the meditation from Thoth shared by SGAI (search if interested) is an example of a secrete meditation (that was secrete until now at least), albeit being very simple, it does some very ethereal things with your mind that can hardly be achieved in any other way.
Now the reason as well why not everyone can have this (aka it's not public, not everyone have the funds, there are limits) is actually very just and everyone should know that everything works here as intended by the highest consciousnesses in the universe.

Now what you can do to build the foundations as Hailourtruegods said as well is to advance and read a lot. And especially work on the 3rd eye chakra (also keep them balanced and do purifciation cycles), Thoth ritual and his meditation (don't perform these last two too much, weekly is more than enough).
