I have seen chains in my soul too, they can be attached to chakras or any other area, even to organs or physical body though chains are on the astral plane (so attached to the astral imprint of the physical body). I also experienced hurt in the point where chains were placed, while meditating on them or while triggering thoughts related to the spiritually damaged area, for example if it happens in the sacral chakra area, thought may be related to sex or self esteem.
If you are a beginner, you need to empower yourself and reach a fair level of meditaton practice on daily basis to establish a strong energy field, so aura, that you will need to free yourself from chains.

These are binds of curses, in some cases a large amount may have accumulated in your soul from other past lives.

Try using white burning light to cut those chords and also do it consistently since some can re-attach themselves back to you after you cut them,
Don't ignore them,
Consistency is key and building a strong aura of protection,,
Think of it as slowly and gradually being able to deadlift 300 lbs weight,
This are usually attachments and they can be a nuisance,
Maybe other methods work too like RTRs but white burn burning light has worked well for me in severing some of them,
