The idea of “Holy Grail” comes from Arthurian Tales, who comes from Celtic paganism.
According to French poet Robert De Boron, the Grail is protected by a man called Bron. In Welsh myths, is said that a king called Bran owned a magic cauldron that can restore the dead to life. The Arthurian “Bron” is the Welsh “Bran”.
The Holy Grail also can also be related to Vedic Soma and Norse Mead. In Vedas is said that a hawk called Shyena brought Soma from heaven to earth. In Norse Myths, Odin took on the form of a eagle to steal Mead. “Bran” means “Crow” in Welsh.
According to David Frawley, Soma is a sacred nectar produced in upper Chakras. So, the bird bringing the holy drink from heaven to earth can represent Soma going down from upper Chakras.
According to Alain Danielou, Shiva and Dionysus are the same god. Shiva is also called Somnath(“Lord of the Soma”). Dionysus’s wine is Shiva’s Soma.
