You can make soap using potash. That is you make lye from the ashes of burnt logs. Then you need oil like olive oil palm oil etc, you can use pigs fat as well. (now those need to be cooked)

There are 2 ways to make soap. Cold process and Hot process.

Castile soap is 100% olive oil (cold) processed soap.
