My degree is in Physics, and we mean an object orbiting in the reverse direction. There are no planets that do this. Triton, I believe, a moon of Neptune is the only one.
When we used to think that Earth was the center of the universe we were confused by Mercury and Venus making a loop-path in the sky. This is because their orbit is inside ours (I've heard that called retrograde.), but from Mars on out they just trace simply a straight path. How is it meant in our discussions? Thanks!
