What's your favorite Tarot deck?

I've tried various decks over the years seeking to become acquainted
with the different energies each deck brings to the table. Some, I
really liked, while I felt like I needed a shower after working with a
few others. For years now, my working decks have been both the Thoth
and Rider-Waite decks and I've found that they serve different
purposes at different times.

The Thoth deck, while I generally love it, I'm often drawn to during
times of intensely emotional times. For some reason the deck seems to
call to me at those times and I find myself using it nearly
exclusively. I'm very drawn to Crowley in general so it's probably no
surprise that I find this deck so alluring though.

The Rider-Waite is usually my 'general working deck' that I use for
just about anything from ritual to everyday readings. It's a great
'swiss army knife' type of deck that serves me well.

So what are your favorite decks? Why are you attracted to the one(s)
you are and how did you come upon it/them?

Hail Satan!

i forgot to add that the deck i described earlier has been the most popular tarrot deck in the world for decades

Cool post! I can tell you mine...I have a simply gorgeous deck called "Druidcraft"--it is sorta wiccan but it's better than Rider-Waite to me cause it doesn't have Christian symbolism like R/W. I also have a great deck called the "Gothic Tarot" by Joseph Vargo, it is so amazing and has to be seen to believe the beautiful "night kind" artwork...if you like vampires give it a try. Then I have two Egyptian decks--one which is by Silvana Alasia. It's pretty good but the other Egyptian one is unique--"the Oracle of the Pharaohs" by Norman Plaskett...it is rather strange, not at all aesthetically pleasing, but it works like a charm. I wanted the Enochian Tarot and it was unavailable but I had the book with the b/w pics in it of each card, so being the artist I am, I simply drew and colored my own cards from the ones in the book (I'm pretty good at "copy art"!)... and I use them on rare occasions, they're more for "spiritual" questions not mundane ones, but I love them anyway. I "think" that's all the cards I have....

My favourite would have to be The Arthurian Tarot by Caitlin and John Matthews. It was created through trancework rather than from the intellect, so the effect on your consciousness can be quite profound, as I've experienced.

Has anyone worked with the Babylonian Tarot by Sandra Tabatha Cicero? I would be interested in reading some reviews.

To avoid any new age BS influence in a deck I have chesen the deck of marselles (sp?). The definitions are atraight with no fuzzy maybies you find in modern decks that seem to be mostly sold for new artwork and warm fuzzies, meaning that you can rarely give a true reading since nothing bad ever happens in the new age world. I have no problem with the waite deck even though two of the cards are swapped #8 is force in the Waite deck.
