What does the VoC actually do* to spells?

I have read the VoC article on the ToZ but I am more curious as to whats actually happening to our workings when started during a VoC, does it actually prevent spells from working or does it simply make the chances of failing to complete the spell much higher? Does it pose a risk of increased backlash or unwanted side effects or does it lower the workings effectiveness in some way?

I am sure many of us have accidently started a working during one and it would be good to know what we are actually dealing with when that mistake happens, should we just start again or is it something we can just soldier through?

Starting working during VoC is just like throwing energy into hole. There is no backlash, you will just not achieve the result at all. If you are doing working for 40 days and you started it during VoC and you noticed it after few days, then stop the working, wait 1-2 days and start it on next proper date.

The moon is a “channel” for manifesting in this plane. When there is an VoC, ”this bridge” is not there. This can cause failures or instability in the flow.
It is like the wi-fi connection when the lines are faulty. This is why it is not recommended to start at this time.
