This has happened to me, I had a bike (bicycle) accident once that was really bad and to this day I still don't remember it. I only remember falling and hitting the road, then the next thing I remember is laying on my back in the middle of the road with my bike on top of me. I got up and started walking for home, it took a while for me to feel the pain of my injuries and realize how badly I was hurt.

The mind represses things that are highly stressful events, and the adrenaline can also affect the formation of new memories. It's totally normal to have time lapses when you've experienced something very stressful or traumatic.

You weren't injured? Wow. You're very lucky. I was injured pretty bad in my crash - busted lip, almost busted teeth, road rash, bleeding bad, messed up knuckles on one hand...yeah I know all about injury and how it can affect your memories.

Also the event happens so fast most of the time, it's like -bang- and it's over. The memory lapse could be from that too.

Anyways...good luck to you.
